The Knowledge Resource Center (KRC) 's final initiative for December 2024 is the highly anticipated Leadership Bootcamp with Dumaguete Cathedral Credit Cooperative (DCCCO) MPC. Renowned as one of the largest and most impactful cooperatives in Dumaguete, DCCCO MPC has consistently dedicated itself to uplifting the lives of its community members. Its board of directors and management team exemplify a commitment to continuous self-improvement to enhance the services it provides.
The bootcamp commenced with a warm welcome from DCCCO MPC’s Vice Chairperson, Dir. Mary Magdalene Z. Villegas. In her inspiring remarks, Dir. Villegas reflected on the essence of cooperation, describing the Creator as the first cooperator who gave His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, for humanity’s salvation. She encouraged the participants and facilitators to embrace the season of thanksgiving and celebration. Highlighting the privilege of being part of DCCCO MPC, she expressed gratitude for the members’ unwavering support, which makes such developmental opportunities possible.
Shifting Perspectives in Leadership
The Leadership Bootcamp, designed specifically for cooperative leaders, aims to foster transformative leadership. Ms. Elenita San Roque, CEO of the Association of Asian Confederation of Credit Unions (ACCU), served as the lead facilitator. She guided the participants through the “11 Shifts”—essential leadership transformations derived from the teachings of renowned management guru John Maxwell. These shifts, contextualized for cooperatives, promise to reshape how cooperative leaders approach their roles, strengthening their foundations and ensuring the sustainability of their mission and vision.
Ms. San Roque was supported by Mr. Glenn Medez, Group Head of the Cooperative Academy of NATCCO Network, and Ms. Mary Rose Gob, Unit Head of the KRC. Together, they co-facilitated the training, enriching the sessions with their expertise and insights.
